Discover the winery belonging to the Raby family located in the heart of Grande Champagne, first cru of cognac

The Raby family has owned the vineyards on the lands of the Chevalier de la Croix Maron for 5 generations.

Gérard and his daughter Cécile succeeded Guy and Marcelle (Gerard’s parents) who succeeded Henri and his aunt Pauline.

This fifth generation exploits 40 hectares of vineyards divided in 3 grape varieties:
- 2,50 hectares of Merlot
- 2,50 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon
- 35 hectares of Ugni Blanc

The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are used to make wines and grape juice and the Ugni Blanc is used for the Cognac making.

Gérard and Cécile are assisted by Cédric Paviot, the wine maker and distiller and by François Paulais for the work on the vines.

The winery has diversified over the years. Distiller from father to son, the family Raby owns two "charentais" stills, one of 12 hectoliters built in the fifties and one of 25 hectoliters built in the nineties.
Guy and Marcelle (Gerard’s parents) started to distill their wines on the property to make the so precious eau-de-vie of cognac.
At this time, they decided to buy their first oak barrels of 350 liters and today, the eaux-de-vie of the family are still aging in oak barrels, which gives to the cognac those so particular aromas.

In 2007, Gérard and Cécile started direct sales. Eight years later, you can find a large range of products:
